Cluster launches “NewHub”, a portal designed for Qlik Sense applications and mashups

Cluster launched NewHub today, a solution that aims to transform the Qlik Sense user experience. The product is essentially a portal that displays native Qlik Sense applications (QVFs) and mashups in a single interface, in a user-friendly and customized way.

Technically speaking, NewHub is a mashup installed inside a Qlik Sense Server, but unlike anything the market currently offers. The idea behind developing the product was born from the need of customers in customizing and centralizing their access to Qlik panels.

The main advantages NewHub offers are:

  1. Add native applications and mashups in a single interface

The standard Qlik Sense HUB only displays native applications, without listing mashups. NewHub addresses this problem by embedding mashups and applications within the same navigation context. Each App or Mashup retains its unique URL.

  2. Customizes visual identity by changing color palettes and logos

Color adjustment and logo change is done by Cluster during the installation phase of NewHub. The product does not lose these customizations even when your Qlik Sense Server is updated.

  3. Plug and Play

NewHub is a mashup with dynamically implemented features. All content control is done through the Qlik Management Console (QMC), leveraging existing and installed infrastructure.

  4. Costumizable Home Page and Menu

The NewHub Home screen provides a customizable list of applications, controlled via the QMC. Simply create tags, which will be used as categories by grouping the applications and mashups in the Main Menu. Applications with the “home” tag are automatically listed on the Home Page.

  5. No HTML/CSS or JavaScript knowledge necessary

All content displayed within NewHub comes from the QMC or from the published QVFs and Mashups. Therefore, unlike other mashups, no HMTL maintenance, whether on Dev-HuB or any other IDE, is required.

  6. Activity Feed

On the right-hans side bar, in the NewHub Activity Feed, you can follow the latest updates made on your Apps and Mashups.

  7. User photos loaded automatically

NewHub uses the QMC image library, allowing users to view their user photos automatically, as well as their name and job title.

  8. Custom styles for Native Apps

NewHub allows native QVFs to be stylized by changing background color, native Qlik Sense bar color layouts, and more.

NewHub is marketed under a “Software-as-a-Service” scheme, where customers agree on a per-user-per-month payment plan.

One of the main advantages this format offers is that while you are paying for the actual use of the service, this allows Cluster to provide full compatibility support and guarantees you are covered whenever new Qlik Sense releases and NewHub upgrades are rolled out.
